Political Convention at Shakespeare Festival/LA

News Brief

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - Are you looking for something more active to do than kvetch at the office about the presidential debates? Then head over to City West on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 1-8:30 p.m., when Shakespeare Festival/LA presents Vaulting Ambition: An Interactive Shakespeare Political Convention. Themes of democracy, leadership and ambition will be explored as actors dramatize Shakespearean soliloquies by about a dozen characters including Hamlet, Macbeth and Henry V. After the speeches, Hoyt Hilsman, a playwright and former Congressional candidate, will moderate a panel discussion of how the leadership tactics of each character are reflected in the current political race. The audience will vote for the best candidate at evening’s end. Tickets are $50 and include dinner. For more information, (213) 481-2273 or shakespearefestivalla.org.
